A place in the local game
Wallidan’s own website connects the club with Banjul and Bakau. Its historical account records league championships in 1970 and 1971 and describes later domestic and continental campaigns. These details provide an entry into a longer club history, not a statement of its current league position.
League and cup are different records
Winning a league and winning a knockout cup are distinct achievements. A list that mixes them without labels can confuse readers. When comparing clubs, ask which competitions are counted, whether the list covers a complete period and when it was last updated.
The club website contains historical honours lists alongside later news. Some of its headline totals and lists do not reconcile clearly, so this guide does not repeat a single supposedly definitive trophy total. A transparent account can acknowledge uncertainty without losing the importance of the club’s story.
Make a small archive
Choose one season and look for a dated fixture, a match report and a competition record. Record the source of each item and distinguish a first-hand observation from a later summary. Ask permission before reproducing a supporter’s photograph or recording an interview.
A useful club display can include the people who organise travel, care for equipment, administer fixtures and support players. Invite contributions from women and younger supporters as well as long-established voices. No one interview has to represent everyone.
A question for the next generation
How would you describe your club to a new student without relying on the phrase “the biggest” or “the best”? Give a specific example, name your source and leave room for another supporter’s perspective.
