A new guide, not an updated photocopy
The scanned German book is historical reference material. Its machine-assisted translation remains a separate working document. The public guide uses newly written articles, official sources where available and visible review dates. It does not reproduce the old book’s photographs or carry its obsolete commercial recommendations.
What has been removed or replaced
Removed from current advice: old telephone short codes, hotel prices, dated opening hours, old airline listings, fixed exchange rates and blanket visa statements. Population figures now identify their year and whether they are a census count or an estimate. Government and sports histories extend beyond the book’s period.
Language has also changed. The guide removes sweeping claims about unwritten African languages and fixed stereotypes about communities. Historical assertions are assessed against evidence, rather than silently becoming present-day facts.
A transparent business record
The research database retains 2,042 archive listings. The public export contains 2,031 after excluding eight reported closures and one reference-only entry, and consolidating two duplicate profiles. Earlier corrections and the most recent additions have been preserved. Thirteen invalid-format contact values are withheld.
This reconciliation is not a fresh operational check of every business. Public records retain their own review dates and confirmation labels. A future update should record what changed, why, when and which source supports it.
Corrections, privacy and access
No account is required to read. Reading-list and text-size choices are stored only in the visitor’s browser. The guide has no advertising trackers or public comments, and it does not collect students’ personal details. External services, including map searches and original sources, have their own policies.
Use the downloadable correction template to prepare an evidence-backed amendment for the publisher. There is no automatic monitoring schedule in this version. Review dates describe checks already made, not a promise that every page is continuously monitored.
